He envisions supporting about 10 PI's at the $50K level. The focus is on observations and data analysis that will support the Galileo mission. Please communicate to the satellite discipline members that this announcement has arrived. If there are individuals who have not received this letter and are motivated to propose, I can fax a copy of Jurgen's letter to them. Best wishes, Jay Goguen __________________________________________________________________________ Other brief news, to be elaborated on in an upcoming Ole Roemer Messenger: 1) A geometrically registered compressed FITS format hi-res Voyager image of Loki is now available for anonymous ftp in pub/ijw at sunkng.lowell.edu (192.103.11.2). 2) Volcanic activity on Io continues to be subdued. IRTF 5 micron images of Io taken last night (1993/03/04 UT) show low levels of activity at Loki roughly comparable to January and February observations, and an initial look at the images does not show obvious emission from Pele. __________________________________________________________________________
