We lost the Jupiter occultation itself due to hardware problems, I don't have a location for the bright hot spot as a result. However, it's probably not the same outburst seen on March 2nd, as this would have been on or behind the limb at the time. Io was several times fainter at 2.3 microns in Jupiter eclipse a week ago. Follow-up photometry in Jupiter eclipse at any wavelength, or in sunlight beyond 3 microns, whenever part of the Jupiter-facing hemisphere of Io is visible, would be valuable- my next run isn't till a week from now. More Io news, including a report of strong Na emission by Trafton, coming shortly... John Spencer, OSIRIS Camera, Lowell 72" telescope.
