Greetings:

    I just got this note from Alfred McEwen: I'm distributing it
now in case it's useful for anyone's telescope applications.
It describes Galileo's plans for imaging of Io prior to the
close Io encounter which occurs at 17:47 UT on December 7th
1995.

      Nine-image On-Chip Mosaics (OCMs) of Io (8 filters plus 
   an extra long-exp violet) will be acquired during approach to
   Io at about:

   12/5/95 21:45      242     80        23       Prometheus-br limb
   12/6/95 04:45      300     78        24       Marduk--br limb

   These are the only distant SSI observations of Io in
   J0; times are SCET [spacecraft event time] (UTC).

"Simultaneous" observations from the ground would have to be
52 minutes later to allow for light-time.

As a reminder, here's the bad news- solar elongation of Jupiter
around the Jupiter encounter:
