Io's 2.3 micron brightness was comparable to its 95/03/23 value, perhaps a little brighter, so whatever hot spot caused the eightfold increase in brightness between 95/03/16 and 95/03/23 is apparently still going strong. Io was also still conspicuous at 1.7 microns. Because sustained brightenings like this on the Jupiter-facing hemisphere have previously always been due to Loki, my hunch is that we are again seeing a major Loki brightening.
